Preamble
The St. Lucia Nurses Association (SLNA) was founded in 1947 as a benevolent society. The group functioned in the interest of nurses and in 1949 it was formally known as the St. Lucia Nurses Association.
In 1975 the St. Lucia Nurses Association gained bargaining rights when it became a registered trade union with its objectives being to protect and defend the rights of nurses. To date several negotiation contracts have been signed and numerous benefits have been obtained for nurses.
Later in 1976 the St. Lucia Nurses Association got international recognition when it became a member of the International Council of Nurses (ICN). |
